Digital Transition Press Release Jan 9, 2008 The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has required local TV broadcasters such as WAVE TV 3 to transmit signals in a digital format by February of 2009. Most of the Louisville channels currently offer Bardstown Cable TV free carriage of those high definition digital signals. At this time and to the extent allowed by the rules of the FCC, Bardstown Cable TV intends to continue to provide both analog and digital programming for all the Louisville broadcast TV stations. For the foreseeable future the analog cable channels will remain in their historical locations. This will allow our subscribers to keep their analog television sets during the digital transition without the need for a set-top converter. There is no immediate need to purchase a digital-tuner-based television unless one desires the features and picture resolutions that those sets offer. Due to a number of complaints about the interruptions of the digital
signal that Bardstown Cable TV receives from WAVE on cable channel
3, Bardstown Cable TV has placed the analog version of WAVE onto cable
channel 78. The analog picture quality is normally not as clear as
the digital signal seen on channel 3, but while intermittent interruptions
continue on the digital signal, it is important that our viewers have
the option to receive uninterrupted programming. |
